We took, as gifts, a "half a pig" (a toy stuffed pig) and a "side of beef" (also a toy stuffed cow). Our kids were devastated when they found out that we didn't get to keep the gifts. The gifts were actually quite unique and loved, but not loved enough to move around the room.
The president of the quorum ended up losing his gift, every time. He ended up with a huge thing of cheese balls and some water bubbles. He was pretty disappointed. It was hilarious. Poor guy. And then there were the few gifts that just couldn't stay put. A pan of cinnamon rolls. A silver coin. A "home sweet home" plaque. They were all very good gifts. Oh yes, there was more than one person who brought the huge tub of Cheese balls. This poor guy sitting beside me tried and tried to "sell" his cheese balls, but to no avail. He ended up giving the tub to his neighbor to the right of him.....me. But, that is NOT what we ended up with. WE SCORED.....according to our boys.
BIG TIME..........

Yes, our boys are pretty proud of "Big Monkey". That was his given name when he waltzed into our lives.
1. You can't jump on him
2. You have to take turns using him as a pillow
3. He is supposed to stay in the family room (has only been in there once)
4. NO SCARING YOUR SISTER
Sheyna is freaked out about "Big Monkey". She hates the silly thing. In fact, Sheyna was chasing Simon and Simon jumped over "Big Monkey". Sheyna avoided the big thing as much as she could and walked very slowly around it. It was pretty funny......
SO, White Elephant season has begun. I think this is the only one we do, but I might just break down and do a Christmas party at my house....and have a white elephant party....
Holy big monkey Bat Man!!! That thing is huge!!! White elephants can be fun depending on the group you are with and if people bring true "white elephant" gifts. Some people go out and buy something real nice and then are made when they end up with a bucket of fast food packets, ie. ketchup & mustard from mcdonalds, parmesan cheese from dominoes, hot sauce from taco johns, horsey sauce from arbys. You get the picture. I thought it was a great white elephant!! Someone else didn't think so. Oh well!! Tis the season!!!
ReplyDeleteI side with Sheyna. That's the freakiest thing I've seen!
